What is rural energy?
Many people in rural areas have no idea where to find energy technologies. They do not know about all the applications that exist. It is not easy to compare different energy solutions. Many people ask us:
- What is the right energy solution for me ?
- What options I need to look at?
- What are “reasonable” costs
- Where can I find a good supplier
Golden Jewel Energy does not have all the answers but we try to build up a global knowledge base so we can help more people with similar questions in future.
Many governments, organizations and companies try to supply rural areas with energy and try to increase access to energy but often find themselves faced with
- Implementation problems
- High costs
- Difficulties to find out what are the right energy solutions
- Undesirable outcomes
Many projects fail. Through experience we found out that many of the successful projects are local initiatives. But they are often not shared! Almost all of successful small-scale energy installations had to be first locally adapted and optimal conditions needed to be shaped or put in place, if not already.
Many people still lack access to energy. Many people suffer from climate change, deforestation, air pollution or other environmental problems. There is increasing energy insecurity. Governments in developing countries are faced with huge challenges in the rural areas: for example migration because of lack of opportunity. Energy is vital for development, for example mechanization, water pumping, or food processing. Many small-scale energy solutions create employment and spur development.
